CI-2 Bridge

CAD systems and engineering design programs are essential to designers, contractors and government entities. This led some participants of this project to develop software dedicated to the bridge domain.

Business needs:
CAD systems and engineering design programs are essential to designers, contractors and government entities. This led some participants of this project to develop software dedicated to the bridge domain.

Technical data including geometric, design and topological data is exchanged between the actors during all the phases of the design and construction process.

Many benefits can be achieved using IFC based exchange. Persistence of bridge data is achieved by IFC based definitions, enabling long-term storage for inventory and maintenance.

Solution:
A first mapping between the OA Express model and the IFC2x model revealed that the intersection is limited. From 71 entities, 56 have not been related to IFC2x entities.

Scope of work:
In Scope:
Design, Construction and Maintenance of bridges.

Out-of scope:
Roads, Highway and Railway design.
